Weeks of Summer: Part 3

After tackling a mountain of laundry we went swimming Monday afternoon...
Then we all met at Settler's Park for a picnic, badminton, and a water fight...
 Dad's Chef KimKap:
On Tuesday we went to the Black Canyon Dam and played nearly all day. We got there at 10:30 and stayed until almost 7pm
Here's Kamden wiggling that tooth...with his middle finger:
We played some cards while waiting for it to warm up.
By the way...Ethan cheats.
Grrr.
The kids LOVED the sandy beach and spent 99.9% of the day there, and took a small break to ride in the boat & on the tube but they were mostly in the sand digging holes and building dams.
 Even Austin enjoyed the beach...
Cousin Emily took the kids out to explore the sandbars
These pictures were taken about 2 1/2 minutes before a huge gust of wind hit out of nowhere, putting an end to our fun in the sun.
The kids ran screaming from the sand that was pelting their faces and we tried to gather things up as quickly as possible.
Then we went to Mom & Dad's to finish the evening and have dinner.
So it wasn't a complete disaster.
Then it was time for good-byes before driving home and the
Iowa Van Leuven's
left the next morning.
(Tanner's Idaho PopTart)
It was a crazy/busy/fun 5 days but it's taking us the same amount of time to recuperate since I got a horrendous cold and spent Wendesday-Thursday on the couch.
Today we needed to get out of the house and my cold is nearly gone, so we went to the zoo with our "Friday Fun Day" group from Church.
They had the butterfly exhibit going on and some dinosaurs that were new, too, and the boys really liked going through the zoo finding them all.
If you look close you can see the giant Kimono dragon cooling off in his tub.
 The cutest turtle ever:
Most of the kiddos from today's group:
 Ethan & his buddy Brandon:
Kamden was pretty disappointed that none of the butterflies landed on him, but it was crowded in there and he also wasn't interested in staying still like the zoo keepers kept suggesting.
So maybe next time!
We also have a new niece that was born this morning, no name yet but the boys are so excited to have another cousin.
Congratulations Ryan & Charly!
