Labor Day Weekend 2014

The boys have been begging to go camping all summer and we kept telling them we'd go before school started. Of course, the summer got away from us and school started without a camping trip. So we made it happen over Labor Day weekend and went with some friends near Hells Canyon. We let the boys miss school on Friday and left that morning so we could be sure and get a spot before they all filled up for the long weekend. We ended up camping next to the grandparents of a good friend of mine from High School. Small world!
It was a fun and relaxing weekend with lots of fishing and playing. We all had a great time and the boys would've stayed all week if they could.
The boys haven't been avid fishermen before but they were really into it this time and caught a lot of fish. I don't know if they enjoyed catching them more or letting them go. It was fun to watch and they especially liked riding in Andy's fishing boat.
We roasted lots of hot dogs and marshmallows and Jeff taught the kids different ways to build a fire. He even sent them on a scavenger hunt to see what different kinds of wood they could find, then they talked about what would burn and what probably wouldn't work so well for a fire. They were really excited and Ethan even used the "log house" method the next morning to build our fire.

It was a great weekend and I'm so glad we finally went camping, we need to go more often even if it's not necessarily my favorite thing to do, but the boys LOVE it and we do have fun when we go.
Hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend!
